I made this journal for my friend Anne for her birthday. It's 4.25 x 7.25 inches, and has lined paper, because I know Anne likes lined paper in her journals. |

Here's the cover. I love knitting little coaster-sized things, partially as practice, and also because I think they add something soft and fun to a hardcover journal. The book is covered in a slightly iridescent green bookcloth. The knitted part is done in Lion Brand Microspun, white and bright pink. I used the fair isle technique, which I especially like here because it makes the star slightly puffy. |

For the endpapers, I made a rubber stamp with different-sized stars, and stamped them on nice paper with silver ink. |

This was my first attempt at charting something for knitting. I used the actual size graph paper available here. The top chart is the one I used, but you can see I x-ed out the lines at the top of the bottom star "legs" -- I thought they made the final star look top heavy. The bottom chart is my redrawn version, the one I'll use for future star journals. I think I'll try the next one with a garter stitch border, and see what that looks like. |

And here's Anne's cat, Rupert, surveying the new book. We like Rupert. He's huge. He makes my Theo look like some sort of miniature cat. You can get a sense of how big he is if you remember that this book is 7.25 inches tall. |
