December 30, 2002. Finally, after months of self-imposed silence, I can show you all the knitting I've been doing for Christmas gifts! It's nice not to be deadline knitting right now. Anyway, I present to you: Holiday Hats 2002.

December 22, 2002. Sorry for the lack of updates; I've had a horrid cold. Still recovering. Life was made better by curling up on the couch under the handknit afghan we received as a wedding present, and watching Marx Brothers movies. We call the afghan the Magic Nap Blanket because you fall asleep the minute you get under it, even if you weren't that tired to begin with. But I've been exhausted and unable to sleep due to stuffiness, so any extra napping was definitely sought after.

December 11, 2002. I can't show you the knitted things I'm currently working on. But I can show you something I made ages ago and never thought fit to post a picture of! Here is Peatie playing with the felted cat toy I made him:

The first time Shannon visited us, she brought her spinning wheel and some lovely grey fleece. She let me try my hand at spinning, and then gave me the wee bit I'd spun. It wasn't very much yarn, so I made it into a little mouse. It's pretty much a round ball with three pieces of fringe. I stuffed it with catnip, which is the only reason the cats are interested in it. And it doesn't look so much like a mouse as it does a hairball.

I'm planning on felting some abandoned projects to make more cat toys for Christmas. Since the cats don't read my website (at least, not that I know of) I can show those things to you as soon as I get them done. Whenever that is.

December 3, 2002. Still knitting along on holiday gifts. I went through airport security this past weekend with no problem, despite all the knitting needles in my carry-on. They made me run my shoes through the x-ray, and patted my bra to make sure I wasn't hiding any weapons in there. But apparently five size 8 double-points don't raise any eyebrows. Go figure.
