Knitting Page Archives: May 2003

May 24, 2003. I finished the fuzzy red baby raglan sweater. I am now going to try to devote some serious time to my poor neglected Mexiko socks and Rowan Jack sweater. I am about an inch into the second sock, and maybe 1/3 of the way through the front of Jack.

May 22, 2003. I finally picked buttons for the Debbie Bliss Baby Layette and sewed them on, which renders that project officially finished.

I ended up going with the Peter Rabbit buttons, despite the fact that, last time I checked, the duckie buttons were ahead in the poll. I ended up going with the favorite of three of my most trusted advisors, my friends Anne and Jessica, and my mom. And, let's face it, they both would have been cute.

May 21, 2003. I've finished all the knitting on the baby raglan sweater (no update pictures) but am procrastinating finishing it for some reason. I'm going to do it this week. I have also decided that, when this sweater is finished, I am going to work for a while on some of my other WIPs (instead of starting another baby sweater), because it's driving me nuts how long they've been hanging out there. Also, there are other adult sweaters I'd like to make, and I can't let myself start them until I finish Rowan Jack.

To that end, only nine and a half months after it was started, I have finished the first Opal Mexiko sock. At least you all know that I was working on other stuff at the time. But still. It should take a lot less time to make a sock. I was good and cast on for the second sock immediately. Dave and I are going to a wedding in Washington, D.C. next weekend, and I was thinking that the sock would be a good plane project.

May 13, 2003. I finished the front of the baby raglan sweater.

I see it's still pretty much a tie between the ducky buttons and the Peter Rabbit buttons! You're not doing a very good job of making this decision for me. I may just have to put one of each button in a hat, and pick one.

May 9, 2003. I added a page for my newest WIP, a baby raglan sweater.

In other knitting news, I see that Lion Brand now has their own version of self-patterning sock yarn, Magic Stripes. Looks to me like it will be a good contender, and at $8.99 a two-sock skein, I think it's a few dollars cheaper than other self-patterning sock yarns.

May 8, 2003. It's a virtual tie between the ducky buttons and the Peter Rabbit buttons, so I'm going to try to make it a little easier (I would just pick my favorite between those two, but really, I can't decide). Plus, I've gotten so many emails from people asking to change their vote from ducky to bunny, or from bunny to ducky, that I think I'm going to do a new poll. So you get a chance to vote again! Plus, I took larger pictures of what the sweater will look like with each button option. So, here you go:

do you like the duckies?

or do you like the bunnies?

Ok, NOW which buttons do you think I should use?
Duckies
Bunnies

I have also finished two pairs of booties to go with this cardigan.

I started my next project (yes, another baby sweater) but I haven't started a page for it yet, and probably won't until I'm finished with the back, so you'll just have to wait.

May 2, 2003. Finished the hat to go with the baby layette cardigan. Don't forget to vote (below) for cardigan buttons!

May 1, 2003. The cardigan for the baby layette is done! If you go to see the picture, you'll see that there are no buttons. I'm having some trouble choosing. What do you think?

The last button's a little hard to see. It's Peter Rabbit, with some sort of vegetable or sprig of grass behind him.

Which button should I use?
Definitely the blue ducky.
The elephant is the way to go.
I'm loving that blue star.
You'd be insane not to use the one with Peter Rabbit.
