December 30, 2002. Update: I gave this sweater to my mom for Christmas. Every time I put it on, it just seemed much more like a sweater of hers, and, in the end, it somehow looked 1,000 times better on her than it does on me. Hurrah! Glad the sweater has a good home now.

November 13, 2002. Quickest sweater ever! Took me only a week and a half to knit and assemble, and it's not like that was constant. Unfortunately, the problem with super bulky yarn is that it's not always particularly flattering. I used Artful Yarns Museum in "Amazone." The pattern is the Weekend Warrior sweater from The Yarn Girls' Guide to Simple Knits. I added ribbing on the bottom of the sweater, since I found that, although chunky yarn rolls less than finer yarn, it does roll, and that just adds to the bulk.

So here's the sweater, flat on the floor (sorry for the dark photo, but you get an idea of the shape):

Here's a close-up of the stitches. This gives you a good idea of the color.

And here it is on. Right now, it's about as flattering as if I strapped a live ox to my torso. I'm hoping that washing it will soften it and let it drape a wee bit more. It's a little stiff right now, and tends to stick out in such a way that it appears that I've knit a gut into the sweater. Also, I don't know who I look like in this picture, but it's not me. Anyway.
