January 13, 2003. Here's Henry (a week or two ago) wearing the red sweater:

He likes wearing it, especially now that it's so cold out.

May 24, 2003. I finished this sweater yesterday:

I'm really happy with the way this turned out, although it was a royal pain to sew together. If I use this yarn again, I think I'll make a seamless sweater. The yarn is so soft and fun to knit with, but somehow that makes it almost impossible to sew. I kept getting holes and gaps along the seam, and mattress stitching was a complete disaster, so I finally ended up doing what I think might be backstitch, which made for sturdy, though bulky, seams. At any rate, the final sweater looks awfully cute, I think.

May 13, 2003. Here's the front of the sweater:

It looks like a little tank top or something. I really like this yarn, though I worry that it will be almost too warm a sweater, since it's really warm in my hands when I'm knitting it.Well, I do live in Maine, so maybe a super-warm sweater will actually be a good thing to have.

May 9, 2003. This sweater is in Peter Pan Velvet Touch (color 1202, Red Velvet), an extremely soft fuzzy nylon yarn. The yarn's tagline is "touch it, feel it, love it" which is a little cheesy for my tastes, but is probably appropriate, considering I never would have bought this yarn if I hadn't felt how soft it is. I was worried that it would be a pain to knit with, because it's sort of chenille-like, and I'd heard that chenille is not easy to knit with. But this stuff is fine, not hard to knit with at all. I'm using a pattern I picked up when I got the yarn (one that's specifically for this yarn), for a raglan-sleeve pullover. (You can see the pattern -- #936 -- if you scroll to the bottom of this page.) I've finished the back for the sweater:
